Fall 2016 Couture
The most important moment here isn’t that this may be the actually most “artistic” couture collection ever. This is literally called and is Wearable Art and is an important, maybe the most important moment in the history of this fashion house.
The most important thing with this collection is that with it Viktor & Rolf will finally do what they finally have determined and discovered to be their ultimate destiny as artists. They will no longer waste their precious time here on Earth as “pret-a-porter fashion designers”. No more with the endless turning out of designs and dumb downs of sell-able versions of their clothing. Instead this pair will focus only on the haute couture design process.
The lesson here is that these two, as they are truly haute couturiers, have finally recognized that they do in fact create and set an original inspiration for all the others to follow and more importantly that other fashion designers are all actually listening to what they’re saying and following form. They should focus on doing exactly what all of us other smaller designers wait for and dream about seeing, their couture collection, for it inspires and sets fire to the rest of the fashion world and long has done so. Finally they are going to be able to focus on delivering an importantly presumptuous collection each season with a new guideline for designers of our generation to translate into a more wearable, sellable, and mass-understandable garment…and leave them time to polish their accent…to see how far they can really take this journey they’re on. And if anyone can take it to a place to cross and break barriers, it is Viktor & Rolf.
Off the artist go to focus on the magic making and inspiration setting. I am literally living to see what they will think of now and next.
